This is a specialty class open to everyone ages 10 & up with prior ballet training. An evaluation is required before being able to participate.
NO RECITAL PERFORMANCE OR COSTUME PURCHASE.
The class consists of correctional and strengthening exercises (both done in and out of pre-pointe shoe) taught in a progressive format to help dancers both prepare for pointe work and reduce their chances for dance related injuries.
Pointe technique encompasses both the mechanical and artistic aspects of pointe work. In particular, it is concerned with body alignment, placement of the feet, and the manner in which a dancer transitions to and from en pointe. A dancer is said to have "good" or "proper" technique when in conformance with the practices of pointe technique, which in turn are generally referred to as proper technique.
